The Frederikshavn Art Museum & Ex libris Collection see it as their goal to cultivate and agitate for the art of ex libris by more than 20 annual exhibitions. They take pride in one of the largest collections of the world with about 450.000 bookplates and a library of about 7.000 items. The project "The Digital Exlibris Museum" started off in 2010 with the purpose of increasing the museum's national and international profile by making the bookplate collections available to a larger audience through the Internet.

The registration and digitalisation of the extensive collections (about 450.000 total) is an ongoing process and more bookplates will be added on a regular basis.
